In 1938, in his famous Babies Are Human Beings, C. Anderson Aldrich was cautious in describing the feasibility of enhancing children's developmental potential. He opines that the degree to which parents are considerate of their baby's early needs may be the measure of the child's ability to feel secure in a world of change and to adapt himself to the necessities of circumstance.
