Zusammenfassung: | This article explores, within a governance framework, an area little-studied by the social sciences in Mexico: organizational relationships between institutions, development and territory. A critical literature review on the subject is covered and an approximation of the concept of governance, from a neoinstitutional perspective, is given with reference to its theoretical basis. The aim is to establish a conceptual framework for the implementation of policies in Latin America. The article concludes that the debate on territorial governance is recent within the social sciences in Mexico, but has promising features for research on local development.
