Socio-professional and Migration Orientations and Behavior Motivation [Khabarovsk Territory]

The article investigates the reasons why students choose to pursue their higher education in the Khabarovsk krai. Students remain a major source of incoming population for this region. The region also receives students from other parts of the Russian Far East. For many incoming students, the prospect of work and the correspondence of the academic plan of study to one's personal abilities are the most important factors motivating enrollment. In the region, however, a high level of education does not necessarily correspond with a high standard of living. Nearly half of college graduates do not plan to work in their area of expertise. K.
