Zusammenfassung:First the basic format of the text is not conducive to student engagement with the reading. Given the glut of research on domestic violence it seems shortsighted to give only one example from one culture in this setting and may give the impression that domestic violence is less of a problem in the other cultures which are discussed more often in the text. Because of the importance of global discussions in the teaching of the sociology of the family we regret that we do not have more positive feelings towards this text.
