Zusammenfassung: | Food insecurity can be a cause as well as a result of armed conflict. Food security considerations should be involved in conflict prevention, resolution of active conflict situations and protection of the peace after conflict cessation. The costs of armed conflict in terms of agriculture and other areas have been estimated. In 1997, for example, 33 armed conflicts took place, creating risks of hunger and malnutrition for tens of millions of people. In Sub-Saharan Africa , food production has differed by a mean of 12.3% from years of peace to years of war, between 1970 and 1993. |
