Zusammenfassung: | Argues that interventions targeted to the needs of emancipated foster youth can prevent them from dependency, homelessness, & incarceration. A profile is presented of such youth, describing their service needs & outlining three program models to address these. The data are drawn from a synthesis of previous research on independent living programs & findings about recently initiated programs. Results suggest policy changes to assure that emancipated foster youth continue to receive the necessary services for self-sufficiency after they reach the legal age of emancipation. 27 References.
