Zusammenfassung: | An evaluation of the contributions of Gordon Tullock, who recently retired as editor of Public Choice ([PC] since its inception in 1966), to economic science in general, & to the discipline of public choice in particular. Tables showing the number of times a variety of journals have cited PC articles attest to the impact of PC. Tullock's own contributions to PC have been considerable as well; tables showing the most-cited articles published 1966-1985 reveal that Tullock wrote 6 of the 73 most influential articles. The influence of Tullock's works on the whole of economic science is measured by a review of his publication citations. PC ranks approximately in the middle of the journals considered with respect to various citation measures; & since the late 1970s, its ranking has improved significantly relative to social science & economics journals. Tullock's own works are substantial, multidisciplinary, & enduring, & have had considerable impact on the thinking of economists. 10 Tables, 2 Figures, 19 References. S. Dilts |
