Zusammenfassung: | Reflecting on their experiences with Oxfam's Women's Linking Project (WLP), the 11 participants from Asia, Africa, & Latin America illustrate why their linguistic differences did not serve as an insurmountable barrier. Realizing through their discussion that several common threads bind all Southern women & that the path to South-South sisterhood necessitates the building of bridges across physical & mental borders, these women set out to destroy some borders (including prejudice & stereotypes), while recognizing that others must be respected & understood. The continuing struggle to forge viable links among Southern women is discussed. WLP's "Declaration from Southern Women's Organizations" (1994) is appended. M. Maguire |
