Zusammenfassung: | In Apr 1990, the Canadian Black Social Workers Assoc, based in Halifax, Nova Scotia, instituted a program to help sensitize nonblack practitioners to the special needs of black Nova Scotian clients. The objectives, methods, & premises that converged into the Racism Awareness Program, now available for in-service training workshops, are reviewed. Exercises on racial awareness practiced in the workship are described. Field tests of the program have been positively evaluated by participants. The workshop is only the first step, however; the program will expand to include other minorities & all aspects of service delivery. I. Shagrir |
