Zusammenfassung:Presented is an account of Oxford U's committee on relations with industry, which provides useful pointers as to how other centers of knowledge (schools, polytechnics, Us, & research centers) could contribute to community development activity. Dicussed are: (1) the status of the committee within Oxford U; (2) entrepreneurial capacity of the post of executive secretary; (3) the role of institutional purchasing power in serving local enterprise; & (4) the potential for developing educational institutional connections with local enterprises. Centers of knowledge are essential institutions of the future by virtue of their key positioning within the quaternary sector of the world's economy -- the all-important information-collecting, -processing, & -distributing activity of the postindustrial society. Such centers seek opportunities to interact with their communities & local enterprises. Modified AA.
