Zusammenfassung:	Neoliberalism in Chile is associated with consumerism, Catholicism and sports. The neoliberal nation has been portrayed through three images, as modern, as a jaguar and as a successful athlete. The tennis star Marcelo 'Chino' Rios became part of the neoliberal discourse of modernization in the mid-1990s, for example. In futbol as well, the national image of Chile has been portrayed as neoliberal, modern, competitive, brutal, and successful. The dichotomy between the confident white and the meek mestizo shows signs of erosion, however.
