Zusammenfassung: | Feminists bring a distinctly alternative project to science based on epistemic, ethical, & political values. They have revealed the individual subject in the creation of knowledge & science to be the concrete individual scientist, not communities or a society. Thus, science is not objective & neutral, but the product of individual scientists that are socially, historically, & culturally dependent. In that sense, they reflect the dominant power relations & ideologies of their time & community, which heretofore have been products of the patriarchal culture with its androcentric, misogynist, racist, & classist aspects. The cognitive qualities that constitute the (feminine) subject of an alternative science & the nature of the feminists' radical project are discussed. Females practice superior science because they are more respectful, less aggressive, & less destructive of nature & humans, & can yield more fruitful & richer results. Materialist, postmodern, & postmaterialist positions on science are discussed in relation to the feminist position. Adapted from the source document. |
