Zusammenfassung:An Afrocentric perspective on social work in the US takes issue with the fact that theories of social work practice are determined by Eurocentric worldviews & African American cultural values have been overlooked in the development of new social work practice models, which, it is argued, are culturally biased. Discussed here are attributes of Afrocentric social work, Afrocentric perspectives on the origins of human & societal problems, & problem-solving strategies for enhancing human potential. It is argued that a restructuring of social work to make organizations & agencies more responsive to human needs & increased African American influence in social work literature & education are needed. An emphasis on collectivity & spiritual & moral development in Afrocentric social work can significantly contribute to the alleviation of social problems. 44 References. A. M. Grounds
