Zusammenfassung: | Responds to Blaine J. Fowers & Andrew Wenger's article (1997 [see abstract 98W29077]) with a discussion of their misconceptions about relational ethics, contextual therapy, & its goals. Fowers & Wenger share a common misunderstanding, ie, that contextual therapy aims to restore & preserve justice among family members; such a grandiose claim is not made, nor is it expected from any therapy. Critiques regarding the definition of ethical values, the distinction between cultural & ethical differences, & claims that Boszormenyi-Nagy finds Christian self-abnegations to be destructive are refuted. It is concluded that Fowers & Wenger have missed the main principle of relational ethics, ie, the balance of giving & receiving. D. Generoli |
