Zusammenfassung: | Studies of children across cultures and rearing environments reveal that some toddlers offer help and comfort to children in need or distress, while other toddlers are indifferent or even elevate the child's distress. Elements of an explanatory account of prosociality are proposed in terms of an inborn companion space, enabling inclusion of others in felt immediacy and learning by reciprocal participation in the caretaking to which the infant is subjected. This implies a vicious circle of re-enactment towards other children by toddlers who have suffered abuse. |
