Zusammenfassung:An examination of the pastoral & social involvement of bishops of the Gatineau-Hull (Quebec) Diocese considers the changing social & ecclesiastical context of their work. After discussing the prophetic & progressive role of Gatineau-Hull in the Quebecois Catholic Church, it is noted that the diocese was the first in Canada to resist the traditionalism of the Roman Catholic Church. Bishop Paul-Emile Charbonneau (1968-1974) created a service-oriented, evangelical, brotherly, democratic, & collegial-action plan for the diocese. Under the leadership of Bishop Adolphe Proulx (1974-1987), the diocese addressed many of the area's social problems. 4 References. Adapted from the source document.
