Zusammenfassung: | Gastrosemantics, a culture's unique signification, experience, philosophy, & communication with food & food practices through the application of linguistic devices, serves as the context for an examination of the Indian Madhva Brahmins' concept of prasada. Prasada, defined as sacred food, is here redefined as comprising several distinct characteristics, each unique to a separate ritual of the worship of Krishna. Particular significations of such religious practices as fasting, feasting, & purification are resignified in relation to food. 2 Tables, 21 References. E. Eakman |
