Family violence: Its relation to marital and parental satisfaction and family strengths

The association between satisfaction with family relationships & the occurrence of family violence is examined, utilizing questionnaire data from 304 Neb residents. Analysis reveals that: ratings of marital satisfaction decrease as reported spousal violence increases, satisfaction as a parent decreases as use of violence in correcting children increases, family strengths decrease as violence increases, & use of violence by one family member is related to greater use of violence by others in the family.
