Zusammenfassung: | It is common to think that the poor have no future, or that their predicament will only get worse. These reactions are not very thoughtful or helpful when thinking about the future of the poor. Adopting a different approach, the author submits that poverty is a systemic oppression of a particular class of people and that the oppression is so severe and systematic that it can be characterized as a ‘structural genocide’. But poverty will not continue forever because of the inherent instabilities within the system and the politicization of the poor. In the end poverty will have to be dealt with by both the rich and the poor for the common good. |
