Zusammenfassung: | During the transition from socialism to capitalism in Croatia, secondary schools have been enlisted to assist in building the newly independent Croatian state while shedding the harmful ideological influences of socialism. Here, syllabi used 1985-1990 are contrasted with those used 1990-1993 in 38 academic & vocational schools in Zagreb, Varazdin, & Karlovec. Analysis shows that ethnonationnal & Catholic ideology is being promoted over liberal democracy. These influences are especially notable in the new curriculum for history, geography, & Croatian language. 2 Tables, 29 References. Adapted from the source document. |
