Zusammenfassung: | This article reports the results of a 1991 survey of oversight personnel in 26 of the 35 states with
Continuing Care Retirement Community (CCRC) legislation. The purpose of this descriptive
study is fourfold: (a) to describe current state CCRC legislative activity, (b) to present state
regulators' perceptions of legislative impact and emerging trends within their states, (c) to gain
insights into the relationship of CCRC regulation and other state and federal regulatory
mechanisms affecting units within CCRCs (i.e., assisted living and skilled nursing care), and (d)
to explore regulators' perspectives of the role of accreditation for CCRCs. Results indicate that
states struggle with how to regulate communities that contain units overseen by different state
agencies and how to balance the intent of government oversight with self-regulation through
accreditation. |
