Zusammenfassung: | Montesquieu's analysis of modern times suggests that an atmosphere suitable for renewed religious practice can emerge from middle-sized monarchies, a political survivor of deposed tyrants & their regimes destabilized by advancing technology & improved communications networks. Despite the exhortations of powerful religious institutions, religious faith is only concerned with the individual's salvation. Religious practice, freed from the control of the state, assumes an emancipatory role by assuring a culture of civility, restraining the caprices of the leader, & implementing fair laws through a humane legal code. The hybrid government thus established is a mixed monarchy, featuring a leader with predefined executive powers & popular participation. Adapted from the source document. |
