Zusammenfassung: | This paper presents the results of a longitudinal Danish study on children, born in 1995, in out-of-home care. Inspired by developmental psychopathology, the analytical focus is on risk & resilience. The first data collection included interviews with mothers & questionnaires answered by social workers & carers. The results show that young children in care are disproportionately disadvantaged. They perform poorly at school & have health problems. 53% score within the abnormal range of the SDQ-scale. Their mothers head single households, give birth as teenagers, change partners frequently & are excluded from the labor market, etc. They suffer from health problems, substance abuse, violent marriages, etc. Adapted from the source document. |
