Zusammenfassung: | Original solutions developed in French-speaking Switzerland & enacted into law to resolve the sexism of masculine noun forms in professional & political terminology are presented in detail. The history of women's fight for suffrage & political recognition is traced through studies of official wording from 1848 to the 1971 referendum allowing women the vote & a 1981 equal rights amendment establishing sexual equality provisions. The country is now considered a leading force in progressive language reform. 7 References. Adapted from the source document. |
