The adolescent male prostitute and sexually transmitted diseases, HIV and AIDS

Adolescent male prostitutes have variable backgrounds; a blend of different psychological, behavioural, social and economic factors. The study of these factors forms a basis for understanding the potential risks that they may be exposed to, including sexually transmitted diseases and infection with HIV. The reported high incidence of STD in this group of the population indicates the possible risk of infection with HIV. The lack of correlation between sexual knowledge, sexual practices and sexually transmitted diseases, HIV and AIDS is repotredly high in male adolescence. The impact of education on sexual knowledge and sexual practice indicates the need for an organized education programme.
