Zusammenfassung:Assuming that humans are by nature violent, instrumental violence, ie, violence calculated to produce a certain end, is discussed. Three types of violence are distinguished: (1) legitimate state violence, (2) antistate violence, or terrorism, & (3) state terrorism, or terrorism conducted by political institutions. Viewing nonviolence as a goal, even if utopian, it is suggested that generalized violence should be replaced with an institutional, unpersonalized, legal violence. R. Jaramillo
