Zusammenfassung: | The unquestioned desirability of peace in the Western persepctive derives from the West's comfortable imperial position in the world, the West's current economic & political condition of internal self-satisfaction, & Christianity's peculiar supervaluation of peace. The Western perspective on conflict resolution is also influenced by nineteenth-century utilitarianism & liberalism as well as a general scientific & mechanistic worldview. The Western style of conflict resolution, on the other hand, is affected by the West's self-confidence regarding problem solving, the flexible perspectives of postmodernism, & the self-searching oversincerity of the 1960s. The confidence regarding the durability of agreements is also related to the development of stable & effective legal & political systems in the West. Most or all of these conditions often do not apply in other societies & other cultures, & conflict resolution theorists & practitioners must work to adapt their theories & practices to other cultural farmworks. 9 References.
