Zusammenfassung: | According to UN statistics, at the end of 1993 there were 3.5 million refugees & displaced persons in the former Yugoslavian territories, the majority of whom were women & children. It is suggested here that tensions & symptoms of exclusion are developing in the relationships between refugees & their host societies. The discussion focuses on refugees in Slovenia & Macedonia, Bosnians in Croatia, Croatians in Serbia, & Serbs in various territories. Also examined are immigration & asylum rights policies in the Federal Republic of Germany, France, & the UK, with reference to the Geneva Convention guidelines. 8 References.
