Zusammenfassung: | This publication is the first textbook designed to describe and explain Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), a therapeutic approach in which over 10,000 clinicians have been trained in the eight years since its discovery. The approach (and its creator, Francine Shapiro) have been both lavishly praised and excoriated. The extremes to be noted in reaction to EMDR, and the rapid growth of a veritable EMDR industry including extensive annual training seminars, are indicators of a "phenomenon" underway and reading this text will doubtless clarify the reader's own position as a devotee or detractor.
