Zusammenfassung:The collapse of the USSR is assessed. The moral order of the USSR is discussed in terms of the ways that Marxism filled a void in 1945. The events of 1989 and its sequels suggest that industrial society cannot be run on total faith or on the political imposition of rightousness either. However, the vacuum left behind by the collapse of communism is unique and needs to be properly understood and mitigated.
