Zusammenfassung:This study explores the effects of judicial selection methods, electoral power, and intergroup competition on the achievement of judicial office by women, blacks, and Hispanics. The analysis suggests that there is no trade-off among the groups. The evidence suggests that the case for the impact of judicial selection methods on the achievement of judicial office by these groups has been overstated and that the relationship is more complex than previously contemplated.
