The Politics Of Cultural Representation: Visions Of Fields, Fields Of Visions

Current interdisciplinary debates about ethnography are reviewed, & a critical-feminist ethnography of sport is proposed. Suggesting that a "point of view" politics is useful in illuminating the ethnographic question in feminism, examples of various relevant concepts in feminist epistemology are examined. It is concluded that a critical/feminist ethnographic project requires ongoing dialogue among local voices, theory, & the ethnographer, & that it offers the potential for raising new questions & dealing with ethnographic differences within the cultural terrain of sport. 33 References.
