Zusammenfassung: | While both positive & negative effects result from industry in Ru areas, research indicates that Ru residents generally remain favorable toward industry in their region. A model using "perceived benefit" as an intervening variable between SE factors & attitudes toward Ru industrialization was utilized to examine perspectives of anticipated industrial development in a Ru area. Data were gathered through interviews administered in Ru southeastern Ohio in 1975 (N = 1,493 Rs, 45% Ms, 55% Fs). Those who perceived they would benefit from industrialization were much more favorable toward future industrial development. SE variables were less predictive of attitudes toward industrialization, & tended to have indirect effects on such attitudes through perceived benefit. 3 Tables, 1 Figure. Modified HA. |
