Zusammenfassung:Both expectation-states theory and rank equilibration theory predict a "halo effect" from unequal rewards. This study used a laboratry experiment based on Berger's original design to test for performance expectations from unequal rewards. The results support the prediction: unequal rewards apparently structured corresponding inequalities in expectations and task-focused interaction. The implication of these results for equity theory is discussed.
