Traditionally, its focus has been on acculturation & the achievement of power through the seniority system, & family & patronage connections. Rapid growth & change in industrial organizations have produced a new kind of actor pursuing active strategies of self-advancement. The combined result of the industrial crisis & of the emergence of the aggressive employee has been to create considerable pressure to introduce participatory schemes within enterprises to satisfy these aspirations.
