Zusammenfassung:A central theme in the thought of Edmund Husserl was the existence of prepredicative thought, of which he developed a descriptive psychology. It is shown through a reading of the works of Wilhelm Dilthey & John Henry Newman (eg, see, respectively: Gesammelte Schriften [Collected Works], Vols 1-12, Stuttgart: Teubner, & Gottingen: Vandenhoeck & Ruprecht, 1914-1958; & Apologia Pro Vita Sua [Apology for His Life], Ward, M. [Ed], London: Sheed & Ward, 1975) that both these writers anticipated Husserl's ideas. Their lives & the development of their thought are reviewed to illustrate this interpretation. 10 References. W.
