Zusammenfassung:An examination of changes in the stratification of occupational prestige in the Netherlands, based on survey data from 1940, 1948, 1950, 1953, & 1978 (N not given). The hypothesis that prestige changes are related to value changes suggests that, in the assignment of prestige, the value of academic competence has increased over the value of integrity. In general, the data show that the prestige of knowledge-intensive occupations has increased over that of professions associated with personal character. The main exception to these findings is that the prestige of knowledge-intensive occupations in politics & public administration has decreased. 4 Tables, 2 Figures, 37 References. Modified HA.
