Zusammenfassung: | The impact of race on an individual's perception of a crime is explored using questionnaire data from (N = 222) residents of Queens, NY, who each viewed 1 of 4 videotaped versions of a simulated crime. Each version differed only in the race of the perpetrator & of the victim. Results indicate that race is not a major influence on perception (with the exception of 2 cases); rather age & level of education affect perception. Results also reveal a relationship between the race of the perpetrator & the victim & the attitudes adopted by an observer of a crime. 6 Tables. AA |
