Zusammenfassung:	A response to the authors of several of the comments on I. Chukwukere's "A Coffin for 'The Loved One': The Structure of Fante Death Rituals" (see abstract also in this section). Some of these comments seem to reflect a dismissal of the proposed analogies between Fante (Ghana) & Californian burial customs; others give it more weight than was intended. Several comments reflect an incomplete or incorrect understanding of Fante concepts, such as nkaansa, esiedze, asafo, abusua, & egyabosom. 4 References. W. H. Stoddard.
