Politics in the Russian province: Revda and Kinel

Traces the impact of political developments on the life of two small towns: Kinel, near Samara, and Revda, near Ekaterinburg. Based on documents, media reports and interviews conducted between 1992 and 1995, comparative analysis shows how great political differences can be in quite similar towns. Discerns fundamental changes and the process of political transformation which affect the system of local self administration, the forms of interest representation, and the participation of citizens.
