Zusammenfassung: | An introspective personal account of 1986 field research on opposition politics as agents of social change conducted in Cape Town, South Africa. As research progressed, questions about ideology & legitimacy challenged political sociology propositions. Phenomena needing further study are discussed: contrived legitimacy, resistance movement destabilization, & dependency & co-optation. It is concluded that change to a majority-rule government in South Africa will be slow; intensive onsite investigation is necessary for serious sociological inquiry. 59 References. V. Wagener |
