Zusammenfassung: | Allocation of the labor of childrearing & housework to women based on their reproductive differences from men cannot properly claim to be based on a "natural" distinction between the sexes. The social & historical origins & tradition of this sexual distinction are what have made it significant. It is the significance attributed to physical similarities & differences -- not the similarities or differences themselves -- that determines the classification. Only 11% of people in the US live in traditional nuclear families consisting of father-breadwinner, mother-homemaker, & 2+ children. Women make up 45% of the LF & are becoming more assertive, independent, & achievement oriented. Women's nature based on a single choice of being a wife & mother runs counter to the freedom of choice Karl Marx envisioned in human nature liberated by communism/socialism. P. Gockel. |
