Zusammenfassung:Although much has been said concerning the increasing role of PAC contributions in national politics, little systematic research exists linking PAC contributions to legislative outcomes. This study documents a strong relationship between receipt of contributions from an important PAC and Senate voting on the 1980 trucking deregulation bill, a relationship that is most apparent for the electoral cohort closest to a reelection bid. A model is proposed to explain under what conditions a voting behavior-campaign receipt relationship should be expected to be found.
