Zusammenfassung: | Predicated on their earlier work, the authors expand their consideration of the status attainment model to note variations in total income. In the analysis of data provided by the 1973-1988 NORC General Social Surveys it was noted that for all respondents, with minor exceptions, race/ethnic and gender categories show deficits in income compared to white males. Further, consistent effects were registered for age, marital status, family, and education variables. For married respondents, the previously noted negative impact among white females for the three youngest age groups proves to be insignificant, while the effects for black males and black females remain essentially unchanged. |
