Zusammenfassung: | A discussion of the basic elements, social uses, & social origins of the presentation coaching movement of Dale Carnegie. Utilizing the form of critique from dramaturgical sociology, it is argued that, since the interactional encounters described by Carnegie & his associates are controlled externally, the form of drama entailed resembles puppet theater. In conclusion, the personal & social costs of the reduction of humans to the status of puppets are noted. 33 References. AA |
