Zusammenfassung: | Mc workers played a decisive role in the reconstruction of the French socialist political base between 1967 & 1981. However, the political Left's election victories were followed by a weakening of their base of power from 1981 to 1984. The initial socialist mandate given to Francois Mitterrand in 1981 led to an overestimation of French aspirations for social reorganization. Data from national surveys in 1983 (N not given) showed that the main objective of most citizens is a better everyday life; whatever system can achieve this goal is the desirable system. Most Mc workers are conscious of human rights issues in the context of democracy; however, they do not support radical redistribution of income. 8 Tables. AA Tr & Modified by M. Meeks. |
