Zusammenfassung: | Reports 2 studies conducted in a hyperbaric chamber to test for adaptation to narcosis with repeated exposure to pressures of almost 7 atmospheres absolute (185 feet sea water gage). Results from 10 males (aged 21-48 yrs) show that performance was degraded at maximum depth relative to that at lesser depths, and performance improved at all depths with repeated exposures. These findings, and the absence of change in susceptibility to narcosis, are discussed with reference to adaptation. (28 ref) |
