Zusammenfassung:A review article, focused on 2 books: (1) Eduardo F. Jorge, INDUSTRIA Y CONCENTRACION ECONOMICA (Industry and Economic Concentration); (2) Miguel Murmis & Juan Carlos Portantiero, ESTUDIOS SOBRE LOS ORIGENES DEL PERONISMO (Studies on the Origin of Peronism), both published by Siglo Veintiuno Argentina Editores S. A., Buenos Aires, 1971. Both works are concerned with the scope & limitations of the policies & regroupings of soc forces which were centered around the industr growth of Argentina from 1930-1940. Some similarities & diff's between the books are pointed out; eg, in their treatment of the influences of the great powers & the fracturing of the industr bourgeoisie, & the obligatory character of "adjustment" as imposed by the leading class. Neither of these works, it is stated, adequately clarifies the pol'al role played until 1930 by the diff industr sectiors, esp re their direct pol'al representation. The role played by industr'ts in the hegemonical pol'al elite of Argentina since 1930 is little res'ed, though data show that top gov posts were held by persons interested in large capital investment, eg, large landowners. It is concluded that the radical att was basically determined by the pol'al opportunism of the decade. In the face of the developments of the 1930's its anti-imperialist posture had to remain rather limited. M. Maxfield.
