Zusammenfassung:An attempt to broaden the scope of the scaling approach designed by R. K. Leik & M. M. Matthews (see SA 16:6/68D3042) & a presentation of some of its possible uses. After a short terminological introduction & a brief review of the scaling model, the following problems are discussed: (1) the set-up of auxiliary theories in the sense of H. Blalock, which can be used to show what kind of conditions lead to acceptable scale patterns; (2) the use of the scale in analyzing multiple responses to open-ended questions, & in analyzing certain instances of role behavior &/or technical innovations; (3) the possibilities offered by 2-dimensional variant of the original scale model; & (4) the construction of scale-scores either as ordinal variables or as nominal ones (construction of types) on the basis of the scaling procedure. Illustrative examples of each problem are presented. Modified HA.
