Legitimacy and Authority

The current crisis of legitimacy and authority in the USSR is examined in relation to the decline of the Soviet Communist Party. While most causes of the regime's delegitimation are of recent and economic nature, some of the most powerful ones are an attack on the very idea of Soviet socialism.
